Peabody Superintendent and PEF board member, Cara Murtagh, presented two new program opportunities to the PEF board in an effort to provide the necessary funds. The first program is a District-Wide Print Shop. In speaking with the students and the digital learning coach, Cara recgonized a vision for a district-wide “Print Shop”/ Project Based Center run by students on the START team. The students will help teachers K-12 with projects in their classrooms with the equipment that they have available to them.  However, supplies are needed to support them in this effort. The Peabody Education Foundation is excited to provide Cara and the students with the funds needed for supplies.

The second program that the PEF is proud to sponsor is called ‘Makerspaces’. The goal of Makerspaces is to provide hands-on creative ways for students to design, experiment and build and enhances their learning in science, technology and engineering.  The first pilot makerspace program will be at the Brown and continue at Higgins Middle School. If it is a success, the end goal is to have makerspaces in all of our schools down the road.

We are excited to see how the students will utilize the programs and are thrilled to sponsor innovative ideas within our Peabody schools!
